Solwind

Terms of Use

Effective October 5, 2026

1. The agreement

Solwind is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "EULA"). These terms add a few things specific to Solwind. If anything here conflicts with the EULA, the EULA wins. By using Solwind you agree to both.

2. Forecasts are estimates

The aurora is hard to predict. Solwind's scores, alerts and maps are our best estimate from public scientific data and weather forecasts, and they can be wrong, late or unavailable. Use them as guidance, not a guarantee. We are not responsible for missed displays, wasted trips or plans made around a forecast.

Aurora watching often means cold, dark and remote places. Dress for the weather, take care on roads, respect private land and local rules, and never rely on Solwind for safety decisions.

3. Solwind Pro

4. Sightings

Sighting reports help everyone nearby, so please report only what you actually see. Don't submit false or automated reports or try to manipulate alerts. We may hide reports and block devices that misuse the feature. You can report or block any sighting in the app.

5. Data sources

Solwind uses data from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center and nowCOAST, MET Norway (licensed under CC BY 4.0), OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap contributors, and NASA imagery. These organisations do not endorse Solwind. Their data is provided as they make it available, and we cannot guarantee its accuracy or availability.

6. Changes and availability

We keep improving Solwind and may add, change or remove features. The service may sometimes be interrupted, for example when a data source is down. If we change these terms, we will update this page and the date above.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Solwind is provided "as is", and our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

8. Privacy

How we handle data is described in the privacy policy.

9. Contact

Use the support form, or Settings → Contact in the app.
